In February 2007, a sex tape made by Kardashian and Ray J in 2003 was leaked.[33][34] Kardashian filed a lawsuit against Vivid Entertainment, who distributed the film as Kim Kardashian, Superstar. She later dropped the suit and settled for a reported US$5 million, allowing Vivid to release the tape.[1] Several media outlets later criticized her and the family for using the sex tape's release as a publicity stunt to promote their forthcoming reality show.[35][36] In October 2007, Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, her step-parent Caitlyn Jenner, her siblings Kourtney, Khloé, and Rob Kardashian, and half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, began to appear in the reality television series Keeping Up with the Kardashians.[37] The series proved successful for E!, and led to the creation of a number of spin-offs, including Kourtney and Kim Take New York and Kourtney and Kim Take Miami.[38] The flagship series concluded in 2021 after 294 episodes.
On October 2, 2016, while attending Paris Fashion Week, Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in the apartment where she was staying. Five individuals, dressed as police officers, bound and gagged her, then stole $10 million worth of jewelry.[174] The thieves got in her residence by threatening the concierge. Once they accessed Kardashian's room, they held a gun to her head, tying her wrists and legs and wrapping duct tape around her mouth as a gag.[175] Kardashian, who was placed in the bathtub, was physically unharmed and reportedly begged for her life.[176][177][178] She managed to wriggle her hands free from the plastic ties around her wrists and scream for help. The thieves escaped.[179] On October 6, 2016, it was revealed that filming for the next season of Keeping up with the Kardashians had been placed "on hold indefinitely" after the robbery.[180]

Though the SKIMS mogul said she was "99.9 percent sure" that a follow-up sex tape didn't exist, she still enlisted the help of legal juggernaut Marty Singer in the April 14 premiere of The Kardashians. During their conversation, Marty assured Kim that she could sue anyone who released the rumored recording.
Kim ordered Marty to "scare the s--t" out of Wack100, as she was ready to sue for "nominal damages." Marty told TMZ on Sept. 18 (around when the episode takes place), "The claim that there is an unreleased sex tape is unequivocally false. It is unfortunate that people make these statements to try and get their 15 minutes of fame."
Yet, Wack100 seemingly doubled down on his allegations on Instagram the day after Singer's statement, according to an alleged screenshot provided by DJ Akademiks. The Instagram Story read, "A message to @kimkardashian attorneys ask your client about 'SANTA BARBARA' & the signed deliverables for tape1,2&3 @rayj can't control what I NOW control. If I hear 15 minutes of fame again I'll be forced to display the signed CONTRACTS #tryme."
News surrounding the supposed second sex tape died down until Ye claimed to Jason Lee in a January interview that he'd obtained that laptop that allegedly had the footage. "I went and got the laptop from Ray J myself that night and then got on a red-eye," he said at the time. "I met this man at the airport, and got on a red-eye, came back [and] delivered it to her at 8 a.m. in the morning."
A representative for Kim told E! News in January, "After review, there was nothing sexual unseen [sic], only footage on the plane on the way to Mexico and footage at a club and restaurant on the same trip. Kim remains firm in her belief that there is no new second tape that exists. After 20 years, she truly wishes to move on from this chapter with focus instead on the positive things she continues to do as a mother, entrepreneur and advocate for justice reform."
UPDATED 9/22, 11 a.m. ET: Just a few days after offering to give Kanye West a purported unreleased Kim Kardashian and Ray J sex tape, Wack 100 appears to have made contact with West regarding the footage.
The singer, whose given name is Ray Norwood, has accused Kardashian and Jenner of using him to create drama for a storyline about the sex tape in the current season of their new Hulu show, The Kardashians.
In the new series, viewers witnessed Kardashian brought to tears when her estranged husband Kanye West delivered her a hard drive said to be from Ray J, which allegedly contained unreleased footage of the reality star's infamous sex tape.
He has now made some serious allegations against Kardashian and Jenner in an interview with the Daily Mail this week, where he called the original release of the sex tape a "partnership" between Jenner and Kardashian.
While the sex tape has come to no longer define Kardashian's celebrity status, it made headlines again this year when in The Kardashians, the 41-year-old is seen grappling with the prospect of her children being exposed to the tape online.
Her six-year-old son Saint saw a picture of his mother's face while playing the online game Roblox and showed it to her, and upon further examination, Kardashian realized the joke of her crying face discovered by her son was related to reports of further sex tape footage.
In reaction to claims in the latest episode of The Kardashians about another Ray J and Kim Kardashian sex tape leak, Ray J has claimed that the original sex tape was leaked by Kardashian herself, along with her mother, Kris Jenner.
"I've never leaked anything. I have never leaked a sex tape in my life. It has never been a leak. It's always been a deal and a partnership between Kris Jenner and Kim and me and we've always been partners since the beginning of this thing," Ray J told the Daily Mail.
Before the release of the tape in February 2007 Kardashian sued Vivid Entertainment for invasion of privacy and for the profits from and ownership of the tape. However, she dropped the suit in April and settled for $5 million.
He called rumors that Jenner orchestrated the release "nonsense" but author and another ex of Ray J, Karine Steffans, also quoted in the same article said that both Kardashian and Ray J would have had to sign off for the tape to ever be release.
"In order for that tape to come out, Kim would have had to have signed off on it, period. That's just the way that works ... Steve Hirsch would never have gone against that if he didn't have signatures."
"A mutual friend of Kim and Paris Hilton had advised her that if she wanted to achieve fame, a sex tape would be the way to go ... Kim had discussed the idea of producing a tape with her family beforehand ... It was Kris who engineered the deal behind the scenes [with Vivid Entertainment] and was responsible for the tape seeing the light of day."
"Clearly, they both are aware of the taping as they are mugging for the camera. Kim and Ray J's sex tape appears to be high quality and well shot. Additionally, both parties would have consented to signing on the distribution deal with Vivid Entertainment."
Kardashian, who shares four children with West, was terrified that once again she would have to relive the nightmare of her sex tape being public. When preparing for SNL, Kardashian gave West a call where she broke down in tears over the tape.
Kardashian revealed she did watch the tape and there was no new footage from that night beside them being out on the town. With the relief that she got her sex tape back, Kardashian was able to host SNL and crush her performance.
The monologue opens with Kardashian mentioning her "movie premiere," which is a reference to the infamous sex tape that she filmed in 2002 with then-boyfriend Ray J. In 2007, at the very beginning of Kardashian's rise to fame, the tape was released to the public against Kardashian's wishes.
Kardashian ended up deleting other jokes Schumer didn't like, such as one about Kris Jenner needing reminders that she's Kardashian's mother and not her sister. But she kept the sex tape joke in and explained in an interview later in the episode why she stuck with her own intuition.
In a bombshell interview with Daily Mail, Ray J shut down the Kardashian's longstanding narrative that he leaked the original sex tape. The R&B star said the infamous sex tape between the former couple was "released like an album" by Kris Jenner and Kim to boost the family's celebrity status.
"I've never leaked anything. I have never leaked a sex tape in my life. It has never been a leak," Ray J said to Daily Mail. "It's always been a deal and a partnership between Kris Jenner and Kim and me and we've always been partners since the beginning of this thing."
The music artist claimed he pitched the idea of putting out their racy video after seeing how Paris Hilton's stock rose after her tape with poker player Rick Saloman was leaked. Ray J said Kim immediately ran with the idea and got Kris to set up the leak via Vivid Entertainment.
After being publicly smeared and blamed for the 2007 sex tape release, Ray J said he regrets taking part in the business deal with the Kardashians. According to the Love and Hip Hop star, the defamation of his name has cut his career short and left him feeling suicidal.
The shocking interview follows Kim's storyline about the sex tape on the Kardashians' new Hulu series. On the show, the KarJenners expressed concern about Ray J having more material to leak and alleged that he extorted the family with a laptop filled with more scandalous material, all of which the singer said is fabricated and is making him "sound like a rapist."
Earlier this week, Kris, 66, appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden where she was hooked up to a lie detector and asked if she helped Kim, 41, release her sex tape.
TMZ reports Mr. J. (Can we call him Ray, or should we call him J?) earned an extra $50,000 last week from the sales bump of the tape, which was shot when the pair dated in 2003 and was released in 2007. He typically earns about $90,000 every three months from the tape, resulting from a deal he and Kardashian cut with Vivid Entertainment, which distributes the thing. 2ff7e9595c
